minecraft updates opinion idk
imo minecraft updates are kinda doomed to get worse and worse every update inherently, bc the devs are insistent on doing updates, but also insistant on not altering previously-established systems too much, so all the updates have to consist of added content, but since they can't alter previously added content (including bugs and oversights) too much (bc they don't wanna hurt anyone's nostalgia) they end up adding features that don't properly interact with pre-existing features, so every update feels like it get taped on top of the previous one with no proper glue, and then it turns into an unconnected patchwork of features and nobody is happy
capitalism; re: minecraft updates opinion idk
now this isn't a matter of me loving minecraft's current form so much i don't want it to change; it's more a matter of (1) capitalism not allowing developers to say "that's good enough, it's finished, time to move on", and (2) capitalism not allowing developers to say "well people like how things are now, but we want things to be different, so we are gonna do some changes that will disappoint some people"
capitalism turns games into subscription models where the devs are forced to forever both add new content and never change what people love about the game; both things being orthogonally opposed goalposts that get more and more impossible to unite with every passing update
my personal junkyard of rants, vents, sadposts, shitposts, good opinions holy shit oooh my opinions are so good wowser i love them, and yea actually many happyposts, too
